Sr. Business Analyst - BI/Reporting, Metrics and Analytics
Job Description The Sr. Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for championing the interests and objectives of business owners within IT. A BA identifies, designs, and facilitates the application of technology in support of business processes. Candidates must be able to communicate with business owners, users and IT professionals with equal ease to create and preserve the functional integrity of the solution. Incumbents must have complete familiarity with the technologies and applications available to ATC, and a deep understanding of the businesses they support. This role serves as facilitator, analyst, designer and problem solver. Excellent analytical skills and the ability to operate in a team environment are essential, as are outstanding documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
A Senior Business Analyst will also be expected to assist and direct the work of other Business Analysts. Responsibilities Responsibilities: * Work closely and interact directly with AutoTrader.com business owners and IT staff to identify, rationalize and document business requirements; then design and document practical, useful, and cost effective solutions in the form of functional specifications which become the basis for development and testing.
* Conduct analysis that identifies current and future state business processes.
* Make process improvement and systems enhancement recommendations, leveraging best practices and professional experience.
* Obtain and maintain a deep understanding of AutoTrader.com applications, customers and business processes within the areas they support.
* Maintain high levels of customer service at all times. * Conduct application design sessions and moderate other discussions as necessary.
* Work with project managers to communicate project status and issues to business owners.
* Work with project managers to manage individual work load and assist with defining and prioritizing project tasks.
* Work effectively on multiple assignments, activities or projects.
* Collaborate closely with and assist application development teams when required to ensure the functional integrity of project deliverables.
* Work with project teams to develop detailed specifications for application functionality.
* Serve as the functionality expert while actively participating in testing, training, and user documentation development.
* Manage the capture and maintenance of a library of model documents, templates, best practices, and other re-usable knowledge assets.
* Serve as a subject matter expert in specific ATC business areas and technologies.
* Mentor other Business Analysts as needed or required; conduct peer reviews of key deliverables.
* Act as project lead/manager as needed for smaller projects or initiatives under guidance of experienced PM or Delivery Manager Qualifications
* Bachelors degree in Business, Economics, MIS/IT or Engineering required, advanced degree preferred * 7 or more years business experience in relevant functional areas (especially Internet advertising/sales, service or marketing) required
* 7 or more years of experience with relevant software preferred, including Microsoft Office applications, MS Project, Visio and business process modeling (BPM) applications
* Formal development life cycle (SDLC) methodology experience strongly preferred
* Facilitation of design sessions is required
