Senior IT Business Analyst
Leads the business analysis effort to capture, clarify, and manage business requirements for IT projects. In addition to identifying, documenting, and validating the delivery of business requirements used by the technical team to provide the functionality which meets the business needs, the Sr. BA will work with other team members to help develop plans/schedules/deliverables to meet overall project release schedules.
Main Responsibilities:
¨ Learns and applies existing and new system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of systems which contribute significantly to the business or department.
¨ Works with Project Managers to understand the business goals and objectives, as well as the project scope, to ensure all project requirements are in alignment with these.
¨ Translates business objectives and requirements into system deliverables.
¨ Creates various scope options dependent on priorities and cost/benefit expectations.
¨ Identify, understand and document business requirements using use cases and storyboards
¨ Ability to work with remote stakeholders and team members in various parts of the organization.
¨ Coordinate input, consensus and approvals from business clients regarding functional and system requirements.
¨ Facilitate requirements gathering and JAD sessions.
¨ Participate in user acceptance testing sessions.
¨ Document current and future business processes and provides guidance based on similar projects.
¨ Understand how the business analysts’ deliverables impact other teams and their ability to implement the appropriate systems.
¨ Perform walk-throughs on paper-based prototypes.
¨ Identify and escalate issues and risks early to minimize impact to the overall project schedule.
¨ Ensure the traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle, within a division/project.
¨ Participate in or coordinate knowledge sharing sessions with the development and test teams throughout design and development stages.
¨ Participate in estimation efforts for new projects and change requests.
¨ Participate in the definition of acceptance criteria and quality metrics.
¨ Participate in post-project reviews with team members and clients.
Basic Qualifications:
¨ Bachelor’s degree
¨ 8+ years work experience in an Information Systems development environment.
¨ 5+ years leadership skills including creativity, team building, and negotiation techniques.
¨ 5+ years experience writing clear and concise requirements and business communications.
¨ 5+ years experience in leading facilitated sessions with business partners.
¨ 5+ years experience working with technical teams and serving as a translator between business and technical jargon.
¨ 3+ years experience with requirements traceability, wireframe development and the iterative development process.
¨ 3+ years experience developing use cases
¨ 3+ years experience with data mapping and process mapping.
¨ 5+ years experience with a formal IS delivery methodology (e.g., ADM).
¨ 5+ years experience with the Microsoft Office suite
¨ Ability to travel up to 10%.
Preferred Qualifications:
¨ BA or PM certification.
¨ Experience working on International projects in addition to experience in training users of diverse cultural backgrounds.
¨ Experience interfacing with back-office financial and enterprise applications.
¨ Experience supporting and developing for a company with a large field sales force.
¨ Experience with Web and mobile applications.
¨ Experience with Lean Six Sigma projects
