Collective Genius (www.collective-genius.com) is currently seeking a Business Analyst to drive change with a high performance team. We’ve recently been engaged by one of our large international market leading clients to find a business analyst consultant for a long term project. The position is a full project life-cycle role involved in the creation of web based financial software for the group. This opening would be great for someone interested in working in a highly collaborative way to develop web based solutions but who also values a high degree of autonomy and ownership in their work.

Performance Objectives:

Take full lifecycle ownership of requirements for a web based financial solution (analysis to implementation)

Elicit / gather / document web schedule data requirements from multiple financial units

Elicit / gather / document requirements for web portal functionality and compliance improvements

Elicit / gather / document specifications for reporting and data specifications

Quality Assurance test plan creation, test case creation, and execution.

Light project management of PM administration documentation

High priority competencies

MS Office suite / Visio

Web application development project experience – Financial application experience in trading or securities is desired.

Data modeling / structure experience

Financial industry / project background

Strong communication ability

Strong relationship building ability

We are currently looking for a talented/ambitious individual to join our Nordstrom Product Group (NPG) team! A Senior Business Analyst (BA) is accountable for developing, documenting and validating business processes and system requirements. The Sr. BA position is expected to work well with general direction and complete assigned tasks with minimal oversight from the project leadership team. The following aspects of duties within the (Department) are listed below:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead requirements gathering sessions, document business needs, prioritize requested functionality and validate requirements against strategic goals and technology road map; convey requirements to business and achieve sign-off on key decisions
Manage business and stakeholder expectations around requirement changes and convey budget and time-line impacts when changes are needed
Facilitate process review, documentation and re-engineering to meet project and company goals
Plan, organize and manage small projects and enhancement work efforts; manage one or more phases of large projects
Apply various project management approaches to the software development process to ensure project or phase goals, budgets and time-lines are met
Plan and execute User Acceptance Testing phase for projects of various size. Must be able to effectively use a broad knowledge of testing methodologies to validate test plans and ensure testing teams have the resources and skills required to execute the test plan successfully
Coordinate system and knowledge transfer between Production Support and Development teams during project ramp-ups and implementations to ensure team transition results in minimal perceptible impacts to end users
Approach unfamiliar situations, projects, systems and stakeholders with confidence and curiosity
Must be able to question and analyze available information to determine patterns and gaps at a strategic level and recommend appropriate course of action to support technology strategy and company goals
QUALIFICATIONS:

6 years business/project/process engineering experience (combined business, system development and implementation)
Minimum of 2 years of experience as Business Analyst or Project Lead
Knowledge of business tools, processes and systems used in the Retail, Manufacturing and Product Development industries (or comparable tools)
Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Microsoft Visio, Adobe Create Suite, and Oracle Retail and Financial applications
